Shup performs three main functions: File Uploading, Screenshot Capture and Image Editing

File Uploading

Uploading files using Shup is as simple as dragging the file and dropping it onto the Shup main window. The file is uploaded to the configured uploader (stashbox is the default uploader) and the URL is placed on the clipboard for easy access.

Alternatively, if you have the Windows Shell Extension installed, you can upload with Shup by right-clicking on a file in Explorer.

Images can also be uploaded from the image editor by using the toolbar button with the green arrow or simply by pressing the enter key.

Shup keeps track of all your uploads in a searchable database, as well as a local archive of uploaded images (optional). The history window displays information such as the local filename and URL of the uploaded file. Right-clicking on a file in the history window provides different options for opening the file, copying the URL, copying file path, etc.

Screenshot Capture

You can use Shup's system-wide hotkeys to capture your desktop or a specific window into the image editor for manipulation or upload. The hotkeys are customizable and optional. The default hotkey settings are Alt+Ctrl+K for Active Window Capture and Alt+Ctrl+D for Desktop Capture.

Desktop can also be captured from the systray right click menu or the Tools menu on the main window.

Image Editing

The built-in image editor provides a paintbrush and a highlighter pen for drawing, as well as a rectangle tool for flood filling, drawing borders, cropping and blurring your images. It supports unlimited-ish levels of undo, so you can roll back changes if you like. You can also upload your image as many times as you want, directly from the editor (known as checkpointing around Shup HQ), and/or save the image locally.

The image editor is automatically invoked when a screenshot is captured, unless preview window is disabled (Note: The preview window is disabled by default for desktop capture). Preview window setting for a particular action can be toggled in Shup Preferences.

Existing images can also be opened in Shup by means of the Open Image option (Ctrl+O) under the File menu in the main window. Image files listed in the main window history list can be opened using the right click menu. Alternatively, if the shell extension is installed, image files can also be opened in Shup through the right click menu in windows explorer. In addition to opening and editing existing images, the image editor can also be used to create new images through the File menu in the main window.
